Uganda Tourism Board Advertises CEO Position
The position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is now open for applications, as advertised in the Daily Monitor of January 7, 2025.
The role, currently held by Lilly Ajarova, who was appointed on January 10, 2019, is critical to driving the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring the growth and development of Uganda’s tourism sector.
The UTB is seeking a highly qualified individual with a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Tourism, Economics, Business Administration, or related disciplines. Applicants must have at least seven years of experience in tourism, hospitality, or marketing, with a proven track record in senior management positions.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the tourism industry, including marketing, product development, and stakeholder engagement. Strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a commitment to results-oriented management are also key requirements.
The CEO will be based at UTB Headquarters in Kampala and will report to the Board of Directors. The role includes supervising the Deputy CEO, managers, and the Senior Internal Auditor. Responsibilities will span a range of areas, including developing and implementing the Strategic Plan, promoting tourism, building partnerships, managing finances and procurement, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
The position requires frequent travel, extended working hours, and a strong commitment to upholding UTB’s mission of sustainably promoting Uganda as a competitive tourist destination.
